Practice Practice practice!

Recently I've joined a group of like minded painters who have a love of landscape painting and want to paint more on location, out of doors. It's a fair challenge with the Scottish weather, and sometimes we just have to concede that our luck isn't in, but mostly we're game for it and it's been fantastic to be able to paint with such a great group of people. There are so many elements to deal with that just don't come up in the studio, and every day is a new lesson. We even managed to paint out in December in the beautiful village of Culross, Fife. It was a bright beautiful day, if rather chilly at approx 3-5 degrees C, and the freezing paint was certainly a new challenge for me!

Plein Air Pals

Practice practice practice

I've recently joined a Plein Air group to get painting out of doors and up my skill set. It's a whole different ball game, with so man factors to contend with that just don't come into play in the studio. Great fun though, and an excuse to escape for the day to some beautiful locations. This is a shot of my pochade set up out on the now repaired Culross Pier in December 2021. A bright beautiful day but a rather chilly 3 degrees C!!!
